Censorship Doctrine: June 2009

by LukeAmerica2020
Seton Motley, Media Research Center Director of Communications, appeared on yesterday’s (2008-11-07) “Your World with Neil Cavuto” on the Fox News Channel to discuss advances toward the upcoming so-called Fairness Doctrine (see the video below).

Henry Rivera (pictured right), a longtime radical leftist, is expected to be President-elect Barack Obama’s appointee to oversee the Administration’s Federal Communications Commission (FCC) transition process. This decision will have severe implications for the future of free speech in America. He is destined to become the Executioner of Talk Radio.

Rivera, who resigned from the FCC nearly a quarter-century ago during the Reagan years, believes in a doctrine of “communications policy as a civil rights issue”. His exit during the Reagan Administration paved the way for the Fairness Doctrine’s repeal when the late president appointed Patricia Diaz Dennis in 1986 to complete the remainder of Rivera’s term. Had this not occurred, talk radio as we know it today would not exist.

Liberal talk radio typically draws about one-tenth the listening audience of conservative radio. Equal time to liberals with dramatically smaller audiences would lower advertising revenue and ultimately force such stations to change their broadcast format … probably to music … or to bland cooking and gardening shows (which draw larger audiences than liberal talk radio).

Many members of the Democratic Party, including Speaker Nancy Pelosi, have declared their determination to return to this so-called Fairness Doctrine, more rightly called the Censorship Doctrine because it would force conservative talk radio hosts off the air.

Moreover, no Congressional action is required to bring back the Fairness Doctrine. All the Obama Administration has to do is make one appointment to the FCC, turning a 3-2 Republican FCC majority into a 3-2 Democratic one, and it can again be reinstated.

Current Republican Robert McDowell’s term ends in June 2009. If the Democrats can strong-arm him or one of the three Republicans into leaving early, this political censorship scheme can be implemented even sooner.

Hmmm …
While the Obama-worshiping MSM swoon ad nauseum over the heartfelt challenging decision the Obama’s are heavily confronted with, over choosing precisely the right little puppy for Malia and Sasha, Obama’s cold-blooded dictatorial onslaught is proceeding virtually unnoticed. It appears that while Obama weaves the coarse threads of his imperious tapestry, his obedient magicians in the mainstream media are distracting America’s focus.

Perhaps I protest too much. Why should Mr. Obama concentrate solely on our moribund economy when he can easily divert his strained energies to the delightful joys of choosing a puppy and obliterating conservative talk radio?

You may have heard that Senate Democrats are using Obama to boost their fundraising in an effort to gain a 60 seat filibuster-proof super majority in the Senate. Just imagine what a President Barack Obama — the most liberal U.S. Senator according to the non-partisan National Journal — working with an unstoppable 60-seat Democrat majority to implement his agenda would do…

Together, we can stop Barack Obama’s liberal agenda in its tracks by strengthening our nationwide efforts to organize grassroots activists, communicating with folks online and highlighting the strong positions of our Republican Senate candidates.

Thank you for the invite at youtube and i will visit regularly and participate, but you are mistaken if you believe that i am a republican supporter, i used to be before they sold themselves to the military industrial complex, and sold out freedom and the constitution and borders and control of the federal reserve, a group of private banks owned by people who are multi national which means they dont care about america. the federal government does not own run or even oversee the federal reserve. most or us who love freedom, that know that the democratic part was taken over by Fabian socialists in the 60s and that as in all socialist countrys they have created a helpless undereducated dependant class so they will have a voter base because to not have to be productive is attractive to an average 6th grade educated adult these days, so here is the only way and i mean the only way the republicans can ever win is to win back those that have left 30% of america… DEFEND LIBERTY, DEFEND THE CONSTITUTION, STOP BAILING OUT BANKERS WHO ARE ROBBING AMERICA, BAIL OUT PROPERTY OWNERS AND SMALL BUISNESS, DO NOT LET THEM TAKE OUR GUNS, RE-INVESTIGATE 9/11 AND ARREST THOSE RESPONSIBLE REGARDLESS OF PARTY. You can’t win without us and we can’t win without you. WE NEED TO LISTEN TO RON PAUL. LET HIM AN JESSE VENTURA DEBATE. TURN BACK FROM TYRANNY. IF YOU DO WE WILL TAKE BACK AMERICA TOGETHER.

  4. Geoff, many of us are concerned about the Republican Party. Years ago, a reporter asked Reagan why he left the Democrat Party to become a Republican. He said he didn’t leave them; they left him.

That’s the way i feel about today’s Republican Party. It left me. Maybe this is your sentiment too.

For this reason, for several years, I’ve described my political stance as independent conservative.

The MSM is full of liberal left-wing leaders. They have so much power and influence over the public … the MSM refuses to report the news unless it benefits Obama’s camp. This has kept this election from being fair to busy Americans who turn on the TV at night to “catch up” … most of us are not getting a realistic account of the news!
