Michael Steele for RNC Chairman

by LukeAmerica2020
On the 7th of November in the commentary “Overdue: Criminal Procrastination“, I noted the shortcomings of the nearly anonymous RNC chairman Mike Duncan. On the 11th, in the news story “RNC Chairman’s Race 2009“, the eight candidates for the position were listed.

On the 13th, Michael Steele announced on Fox News’ H&C that he wants to lead the Republican Party. Here’s the video clip:

This video is from the PatrickHynes YouTube channel.
“I want the gig. I’m ready to lead this party. I think we have been kind of wandering and doubting ourselves for far too long. I think this past election was the culmination of that self-doubt which has to end. We have a message, I think, of empowerment and ownership and opportunity that resonates with Americans. We just need to get back to that.”

In the past few days, the Draft Michael Steele web site opened. If you support him as RNC chair, you can complete a petition on the site. He has my support. From the web site,

The Republican Party needs to reconnect with American voters, broaden its outreach to new audiences and offer solutions to the problems we face as a nation.

The Republican Party is a coalition of interests. It needs a leader who understands those interests, can balance their concerns, can motivate people to act and can build and sustain a political organization that can once again claim victory in national elections.

We believe that leader is Michael Steele.

The following clip is his speech at this year’s Republican National Convention in St. Paul, MN:
